31st August 2011 – Late
We got some sleep! 13 hours of uninterrupted (horizontal) sleep. We had planned an early start but I guess there was no fighting this kind of tired. Our efforts have paid off and I love to boast that we have avoided any jetlag. It’s a miracle.
Today we walked. We saw the houses from Full House – the Painted Ladies.
The hills here are insane. Our poor, unfit legs are really feeling it. Matt has already cottoned on to looking the right (correct) way crossing the road. I’m still looking the other way like an idiot, and I’m really quite freaked out by driving on the right. In some parts of town, it’s a bit of a free for all.
We have learnt how to tip. I really just wish they’d put up their bloody prices so we can stop all this extra maths nonsense! Also, if you can’t finish your lunch, it’s polite to leave the bag on TOP of the bin, so the homeless people don’t have to search THROUGH the bin. I saw a homeless guy get my chips out of the bin about 3 minutes after I chucked them in there and I felt pretty bad! I didn’t even want to touch the bin to get the rubbish in there, so to eat out of it?
Tonight, Carmen and Adam took us to their favourite pub in the Mission Area, which was pretty cool, we’re loving the cheap booze, a round (for 4) comes in at 16 bucks! And that’s for pints. The only size there is.
We STILL haven’t seen the Golden Gate Bridge. Tomorrow however, if the fog stays away, we should be getting a pretty good view from ALCATRAZ! We’re going over there in the morning to do a tour. We’ve been told it’s “pretty fucking good.” So we shall see tomorrow if it lives up to the hype.
